DEXTER/CHASE MILLS - Mr. Leo V. Castagnier, 77, for 23497 Riverview Drive, Dexter and formerly of Ruddy Road, Chase Mills, passed away Wednesday morning, December 23, 2009 at the home of his daughter, where he had been living for the past year and a half. Leo was born November 27, 1932 in Chase Mills, the son of Charles and Elsie LaFave Castagnier. He graduated from Madrid High School. He first married Iona Patenaude, then Marcia Putnam LaMountain, both ending in divorce. He later married Barbara Bordeau in Louisville, she predeceased him on March 26, 2008.
Leo worked in the cast house and shipping department at Reynold’s Metals, retiring after 26 years. He was a former member of the Louisville Volunteer Fire Department and a member of their race team. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports especially Yankees and Giants, and socializing with his many friends. He is survived by his 4 children, Terry and Millie Castagnier, Bedford, IN; Trudy Robbins and her fiancé, Ed Stevens, Dexter; Todd Castagnier, Massena; Scott and Pattie Castagnier, Massena; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 6 stepchildren, Darlene and Daniel Barry, Waddington; John and Marcia Trathen, Piffard, NY; Joseph Trathen, Chase Mills; Richard Trathen, Castile, NY; Thomas and Laurie Trathen, York, NY; Edwin Trathen, Norwood and Saranac Lake; a sister, Clare and Tom Hazel, Massena; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Ivan Castagnier, and 2 sisters, Eleanor Williams and Winny Brown. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held at a time to be announced. Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. |
