HOGANSBURG, NY - Mary J. Arquette, 98, of 6 Andrew Johnson Road, passed away Monday morning, February 8, 2010, at Tsiionkwanonhso:te Cornwall Island Long Term Care Facility, where she has been a resident since March, 2009.

She was born March 22, 1911 on St. Regis Island, the daughter of Charles and Annie Gray Skidders.  She attended schools on St. Regis Island.  On November 19, 1929 she married Jake J. Arquette at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Bourget officiating.  He predeceased her on September 14, 1980.

She was a homemaker, who worked at the Silk Mill in Cornwall when she was younger.  She was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church.  She loved flower gardening and spending time with her family.  She was known as a wonderful cook and baker, being the best apple pie maker.

Mary is survived by three children, Henry and James Arquette both of Hogansburg; Simone Buneo and her husband, Daniel of Ballston Spa, NY; 15 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.  She is also by a sister, Ida Day of N. Syracuse and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Hopps on September 7, 2001, two sons, John Arquette, on May 19, 1968 and Charles Arquette, on October 24, 2007; four sisters, Elizabeth and Theresa Skidders, Louise Nemerow, and Minnie Francis; a brother, Alex Skidders; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren

Friends may call at the home of her son, Henry, 402 St. Regis Road, beginning 4pm, Tuesday until 1:00pm Thursday. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, 2:00pm at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George H. Belgarde, S.J., officiating. Spring burial will be in Kateri Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
