Marion Isabel StevensMASSENA, NY - Mrs. Marion Isabel Stevens, 91, of 35 Bowers Street, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, January 27, 2010 after a brief illness at Massena Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since January 16th.

She was born February 26, 1918 in Dekalb, the daughter of George C. and Eva Bentley Ginn.  She graduated from Heuvelton High School.  On May 1, 1936, she married Ronald Robert Stevens in Rensselaer Falls. Together, they were blessed with 6 children.  He predeceased her on August 2, 1979.

Before her marriage, she worked for a short time at United Helpers.  She later went to work in the cafeteria at Massena Central School.  She also was an election inspector for many years.  Marion was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She was a member of the Cretona Chapter #516 Order of the Eastern Star and the Grandmother’s Club.  Marion also was a member of the Grange and volunteer for Meals on Wheels.  She enjoyed shopping for the residents at the nursing home for many years and knitting, having knitted mittens for her church, family, and friends.  Marion had a fondness for pig collectibles, having collected several hundred pieces.   She also enjoyed collecting antiques and glassware.

She is survived by 4 children, Gary Stevens and his wife, Rujuan of San Francisco, CA; Penny Brabant and her husband, Fred of Clayton; Martha Grow and her husband, Thomas of Brasher Falls; Riley Stevens and his wife, Tina of Brewerton; 2 sons-in law, W. John Davis and his wife, Georgette of Massena; Dr. Joseph Lunn and his wife, Ramona of Augusta, GA; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Marion was predeceased by 2 daughters, Marilyn C. Lunn on September 12, 1992 and Marjorie J. Davis on March 18, 1999; 2 sisters, Marjorie Ginn and Dorothy Gray and 2 brothers, Everett and Claire Ginn.

Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeffrey V. Aiosa, pastor and Rev. James E. Barnes, II, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Potsdam, officiating.  Burial will be held in the spring at Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Massena, or the Massena Meals on Wheels.
