John R. JacksonAKWESASNE, NY – Mr. John R. Jackson, 73 or 365 St. Regis Road, died Saturday afternoon, March 13, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center, where he had been taken earlier from Massena Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 14, 1936 in Hogansburg, the son of John L. and Anna LaFrance Jackson.  He attended Mohawk grade school and also Bombay schools.

At age 15, John began working as an ironworker, where he worked with Local #440 in Utica, retiring in 1994.  He was a founder the “18” Racing Team of Akwesasne and helped in the pit crew for the “18” Racing Team and “18” Action Jackson.  He was an avid New York Rangers hockey fan, as well as a Yankees Baseball Fan.  He enjoyed spending time at his camp by the river.

Doris M. KnightGOUVERNEUR, NY - Doris M. Knight, 84, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur.

Doris was born in Hammond on June 27, 1925, the daughter of Earl and Della LaPierre Marcell.

Doris attended schools in Richville, Hammond, and Oxbow. She lived most of life in Gouverneur where she worked as a teacher’s aide for the Headstart program.

GOUVERNEUR, NY – Leland “Lee” D. Hendrick, age 80, of Gouverneur, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the E.J. Noble Hospital.

Leland was born on August 12, 1929 in Hermon. He was a son of the late Clyde and Elsie (McCarthy) Hendrick.  He attended the Kent’s Corners school in Hermon and graduated from the Hermon High School.

Linda Lee StowellGOUVERNEUR, NY - Linda Lee Stowell, age 59, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 8, 2010.

Linda was born on December 6, 1950 in Gouverneur. She was a daughter of Dorothy (Tharrett) McBroom who survives her and the late Harold McBroom.

Linda was a homemaker. She had previously worked as a housekeeper for E.J. Noble Hospital, the Gouverneur Bowling alley and had cleaned and readied the 801 Housing complex after its completion.
