NORFOLK, NY - State Police patrols arrested Francis C. Brownin, 46, of Massena following an accident yesterday on State Route 56 in the Town of Norfolk.

Police say that Browing was driving South on 56 when he crossed into the Northbound lane and exited the east shoulder of the roadway, striking a snowbank and a utility pole.  Witnesses say that Browning had been weaving into oncoming traffic before the accident occurred.

According to police, Browning had taken a larger than prescribed dose of muscle relaxant medication and had fallen asleep at the wheel.  He was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Failure to Keep Right, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Notify the DMV of a Change of Address.

The tickets are returnable to the Town of Norfolk Court on March 3rd, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
