Woman Charged with DWI After Two-Car Accident in Brasher |

BRASHER, N.Y. - Massena-based State Police investigated a two-car Personal Injury Accident on CR 55 in the Town of Brasher at about 9:00 p.m. Saturday, 01/30/10.
Melinda M. Rafter, 27, of Brasher, N.Y. was arrested for DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd, and Unlicensed Operator following the investigation.
The investigation revealed that Rafter was traveling northbound on CR 55, operating a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup, when she struck the back of a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Vera J. Viau, 51, of Winthrop, N.Y. The collision caused Rafter's vehicle to overturn on the west side of the road.
A 15-year-old female in Viau's vehicle was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital by Tri-Town Rescue for back pain.
Rafter was issued tickets returnable in the Town of Brasher Court on 02/02/10 at 6:00 p.m.
