Salem, NY Man Dies in Fall from Cliff |

On
September 5, 2009, New York State Police in Lewis investigated the
accidental death of a 29 year-old Salem, New York resident at Split
Rock Falls in the Town of Elizabethtown, Essex County. Jaime
H. McCauliffe was visiting the area with friends when he slipped and
fell approximately 50 feet while looking over the edge of a cliff. He
was pulled from the Boquet River by people on the scene and taken to
Elizabethtown Community Hospital where he died as a result of his
injuries. On September 6, 2009, an autopsy
was performed at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake by Dr.
Francis Varga, who determined the cause of death to be blunt force
trauma due to a fall. Walter Marvin Jr., Essex County Coroner, ruled
the manner of death to be accidental.
