SUNY Potsdam’s Math Alliance will host its annual Pi Day on Saturday, March 20, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Kellas Hall Room 106. The event will feature free pie, games, face painting, and other fun activities, such as “Pie a Professor in the Face.”
“The Pi Day celebration is a unique opportunity to explore the culture of mathematics,” said Dr. Blair Madore, associate professor of mathematics. “From finding your birthday in the digits of Pi, to learning why Pi is transcendental, to getting a Pi tattoo, or just eating some pie, it's an opportunity for good family fun that is thoughtful and entertaining.”
The Math Alliance’s mission is to spread awareness and appreciation of mathematics across the campus and the community in a fun, exciting way.
This event is open to the public and is family friendly. It is also handicapped accessible and there will be an uncertified sign language interpreter on site. For more information, contact Kristi Rugg at
