POTSDAM, NY - Rounding off a weekend starting with CPS presents The Count Basie Orchestra's on Friday, Feb. 19, SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music will be hosting a Saxophone Chamber Music Festival on Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Sara M. Snell Theater. The Saturday event is free and open to the public. Although the event features mostly collegiate ensemble performances, high school saxophonists are strongly encouraged to attend.

The event consists of performances and master classes throughout the day. No registration is necessary.  Performers include high school and college groups from around the North East, including Youngstown State University, Penn State University, Stony Brook University and SUNY Potsdam.

Featured guests will be the H2 Ensemble comprised of members of the Fischoff winning H2 Quartet; the Mana Trio, members of the Coleman winning Mana Quartet; and the Creviston ~ Fader Duo, one of the world's finest classical guitarists, in a saxophone and electric guitar duo.

Though this event stresses the importance of attendance by young saxophone players, it is a fantastic opportunity for the general public to enjoy saxophone music of all levels. The event is scheduled to conclude with a feature concert by guest artists at 7:30 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam’s Sarah M. Snell Theater and a jam session at Maxfields at 10 p.m. For more information and a complete schedule of events contact Christopher Creviston, D.M.A., assistant professor of Saxophone, The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, (315) 267-2444 or e-mail  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
