Injury Accident on State 37 in Oswegatchie

OSWEGATCHIE, NY - Ogdensburg-based State Police responded to a one-car accident on State Highway 37 in the Town of Oswegatchie. Chester Rathbun, 27, of Hammond, NY was operating a 1993 Chevy pickup truck, traveling northeast on State Highway 37. Rathbun reported that he had a seizure, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the east shoulder of the roadway, struck a road marker, and traveled approximately 300 yards before reentering the roadway. The vehicle then crossed the oncoming lane of traffic, exiting off the west shoulder, and struck multiple trees before coming to rest in a wooded area. Rathbun was transported by Morristown Rescue to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center with complaints of pain. Morristown Fire and Ogdensburg Rescue also assisted on scene.
