Fowler Man Jailed for 2nd-Degree Assault

GOUVERNEUR, NY - New York State Police in Gouverneur arrested David C. Butler, 47 of Fowler yesterday.

Police say that the arrest came after investigation into a domestic incident between Butler and his girlfriend.  During their argument, Butler allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat and slammed her head into the spoiler of a vehicle, fracturing her skull.

The victim was treated initially at EJ Noble Hospital in Gouverneur and subsequently transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.  Police charged Butler with 2nd-Degree Assault.

He was arraigned in the Town of Fowler Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
