GOUVERNEUR
- Frederick A. Resch, age 69, of Gouverneur died on November 11, 2009
at his son, John’s home in New Hartford where he was under the care
of Hospice.
Fred was born
on January 24, 1940 in Syracuse, NY. He was the son of the late Frederick
Joseph and Hilda Rose (Leskowski) Resch. He graduated from Assumption
Academy in Syracuse.
Mr. Resch served
in the United States Army from 1963 until his honorable discharge from
the Reserves in 1969. He received his Expert Rifleman badge and a Good
Conduct Medal.
Fred married
Eva Marie Chase on December 30, 1967 in Potsdam. The couple lived in
Potsdam until moving to Gouverneur in 1981. Mrs. Resch died on March
21, 2008.
Fred worked
as a pipe coverer for the Local Union 30 Asbestos Workers for many years.
He loved to play golf, enjoyed grilling outside and going for walks.
Fred was a member of the Gouverneur American Legion, and a former member
of the ELKS Lodge and Emerald Greens.
His survivors
include a daughter and her husband, Diane L. and Bernie Bronson of Queen
Creek, AZ, two sons and a daughter-in-law; John C. and Gail Convertino
of New Hartford, NY, Frederick J. Resch of Gouverneur, and two sisters
and a brother-in-law; Joan and Gary Friedman and Rosemary Dennis, all
of Liverpool, NY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, one great
grandson, two great granddaughters and has one more girl on the way.
He is predeceased
by his wife, Eva, a son, Jeffrey Michael Convertino, a daughter in infancy,
Patricia Ann, and a brother-in-law, Thomas Dennis.
Calling hours
will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Friday, November 13, 2009
from 12 until 2:00 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Stephen Rocker of St. James
Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the South Russell Cemetery.
