GOUVERNEUR - The funeral services for Brenda M. (Shepard) Weir, age 69, will be on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hailesboro Cemetery with lay speaker Judy Sibley officiating. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. 

Ms. Weir died on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY with her loving family at her side. 

Born on July 20, 1940 in Gouverneur, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Marion Shepard. She attended Gouverneur High School. 

She was married to the late Gary A. Weir for 21 years and had three children. She spent the last 30 years with her family and friends of Woodbury, NJ and Walden, NY.

Ms. Weir was a telephone operator at the Gouverneur Telephone Company and retired from Gouverneur Central School District Transportation Department prior to her illness. 

Ms. Weir was an avid bowler, Choir member of her church, piano and organ player, and loved spending time with her children. 

Brenda is survived by her three children, two daughters and their husbands, Jodie and Jerry Jones of Walden, NY and Christine and Rick Vrooman of Gouverneur; her son and his wife, Brian and Jacqueline Weir of Boston, Mass; a brother, William Shepard; two sisters, Laura McLaughlin and Wanda Read; two grandsons, Brandon and Matthew Jones; three granddaughters, Brittney and Richelle Vrooman and Brianna Weir, and several nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Glenn and Marion Shepard, a sister, Jean Pickett and a brother, Gary Shepard.
