POTSDAM, NY - As
part of SUNY Potsdam’s Make a Difference Week, Tyler “DoGood” Kellogg will tell
the inspirational story of how he traveled the East Coast over the summer
making a difference in the lives of 115 complete strangers. The presentation
will take place on Friday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. in the Barrington Student Union. Kellogg, a sophomore speech
communications major from Adams Center, spent his
summer traveling the East Coast to find people in need of help. His plan was a
simple one, though quite grand: help others in whatever way he could. Armed with only his 2000 Nissan
Altima, a video camera, a BlackBerry, a laptop, a GPS unit, a small tent, a
diary and about $1,000, his plan took him from Central New York down to Key
West and back again. Kellogg traveled
approximately 10,000 miles in 50 days, performing more than 100 different
random acts of kindness while living out of his own car most of the time. Some
of his unselfish acts included changing flat tires, splitting logs for folks who
heated their homes with wood, blacktopping driveways and providing emotional
support to a gentleman that was grieving the loss of his wife. The presentation is free, and the public is
invited to attend.
