Lauded Crane Wind Ensemble to Perform

Dr. Brian K. DoylePOTSDAM, NY - SUNY Potsdam’s Crane Wind Ensemble will perform on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall.            

The works performed for the night will include “Serenade in E-flat, Op. 7” by Richard Strauss, “Shoutout” by Roshanne Etezady, “Alchemy in Silent Spaces” by Steven Bryant, “Symphonic Dance No. 3 ‘Fiesta’” by Clifton Williams, “Passacaglia (Hommage on B-A-C-H)” by Ron Nelson and “Gazebo Dances” by John Corigliano. 

Dr. Brian K. Doyle will conduct the Wind Ensemble. He joined the Crane faculty in 2006. He additionally conducts the Crane Symphonic Band and teaches courses in conducting. 

Dr. Doyle’s former teaching posts include faculty positions at Indiana University, The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Duke University as a public school music educator in Imlay City, MI.

While in North Carolina, Dr. Doyle served as the resident conductor of the Triangle British Brass Band from 1999-2002. He also has served on the summer conducting faculty of the renowned Interlochen Arts Camp, as well as the New England Music Camp. 

Dr. Doyle now spends his summer as the conductor of the Crane Youth Music Wind Ensemble.            

He earned his Bachelor of Music Education and two master’s degrees at Michigan State University. At the University of Michigan, he received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting. 

The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
