Potsdam Crane School of Music faculty members, a student and a guest artist
will take the state to pay homage to the chamber music of the great Russian
Composer Alfred Schnittke on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M.
Snell Music Theater.

violinist Ariane Lajoie, Professor of Piano Eugenia Tsarov, SUNY Distinguished Professor
of Violin John Lindsey, Professor of Cello Mathias Wexler and junior violin
student Laura Berger will perform Schnittke’s “Suite in the Old Style, for
Violin and Piano” and “Piano Quintet.” Lajoie studied at the Conservatoire de
musique du Quebec with Johanne Arel. At the Universite de Montreal, she
obtained a Bachelor in Interpretation with Jean-Francois Rivest, as well as a
master’s degree and a doctorate in interpretation. Winning the concerto competition, she
performed the Tchaikovsky concerto with the Orchestre de l'Universite de
Montreal. Lajoie has participated in festivals in
the United States, Russia, Austria, the Netherlands and France. In 2006, she
gave a recital in Bergen, Holland. Ariane is an active chamber musician. In this past year, she performed in a
chamber ensemble at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. She played as a
member of the Trio Lajoie last August at the festival Musique de chambre a
Sainte-Petronille in Quebec. Recently, she has been appointed as a
member of the Quatuor Claudel-Canimex. She is the recipient of grants
from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec, the Fondation Desjardins
and a doctoral scholarship from the FQRSC. The
event is free, and the public is invited to attend.
