Sgt. Terry J. Lynch killed in Afghanistan

Sgt. Terry J. LynchFORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A 10th Mountain Division Soldier from Fort Drum was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan Monday.

The Fort Drum Soldier killed is Sgt. Terry J. Lynch, 22, a cavalry scout, of Shepherd, Mont., deployed with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team in January in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He served in 3rd Battalion, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry).

Sgt. Lynch joined the Army in July 2005 and came to Fort Drum in November 2005. He is survived by his father.

Sgt. Lynch's awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned
Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge.
