June R. Kilbourn, 83, formerly of Maple St., Harrisville, died
Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation
Centre, Carthage, with her devoted daughter at her side. She had
resided there since November, 2007.
Born September 13, 1925, in Liverpool, NY, the daughter of Ambrose
and Margaret Horn Ladd, she graduated from Liverpool High School in
1943. After high school she attended Syracuse University where she
majored in Art.
Following college, she worked for Dey Brothers in Syracuse as a
bookkeeper. In the early 1950’s, she moved to Harrisville where she
assisted her parents in the management of the Hermitage Hotel at Lake
Bonaparte. After the hotel was destroyed by fire, she worked alongside
her parents with the operation and management of the Lake Bonaparte Inn
for a number of years.
She married Reuben M. Kilbourn in June, 1955, in Liverpool, which later ended in divorce.
Throughout the rest of her life, she worked at a variety of jobs
including the Harrisville Post Office, helping out occasionally at the
former LaParr’s Restaurant in Harrisville, as a security guard for many
years at the former St. Regis Paper Company in Deferiet, and as a
homemaker.
She was a member of the Adirondack Grange No. 530 in Harrisville,
and was a former member and longtime secretary of the Harrisville
Women’s Bowling League. Additionally, she was an active volunteer at
the Harrisville Free Library for many years, a post that she loved and
one that was always important to her.
Mrs. Kilbourn had many interests and enjoyed a number of pastimes
including playing golf, Bridge, bingo, cooking and reading. She also
was an avid bowler until her late 70’s.
Survivors include her loving daughter and son-in-law, Pamelia A. and
Paul Hebert, of Harrisville; 3 grandchildren, Michael L. Hebert, Japan,
Lucas K. Getman and Austin A. Hebert, both at home; and nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Ladd, who died in his early teens, and Ambrose “Babe” Ladd, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service that
will be held on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., at the Harrisville Christian
Church, Harrisville, with Rev. Michael Gault, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
There will be no calling hours.
