J. Wilson Hunter “Sis” Phelps entered into eternal rest Thursday June
11, 2009 at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, at the age
of 79.
Arrangements are with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop.
A
funeral service will be held Saturday June 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at
the United Methodist Church in Buckton, the church she and her husband
Maurice attended.
Olivia was born in Massena on September
18,1929, the daughter of the late Kennedy Roosevelt and Olive Jessie
(Brown) Wilson. She married John S. Hunter on November 16, 1947. He
passed away June 21, 1959. She then married Maurice A. Phelps on April
21, 1965.
Surviving Olivia is her husband, Maurice; her
children, Mary (Galon) Eldridge of Brasher Falls, Marie (John)
Plachotnik of Frankfort, NY, Joyce Hunter of Massena, Michael Hunter of
Winthrop, Susie (Glenn) Cinnamon of Winchester, Ontario, Jeffrey
(Danielle) Hunter of Winthrop, and Marcy Phelps-Hand (John) of Auburn;
two brothers, Kennedy (Sonny) Wilson and Willard (Butch) Wilson; 16
grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and
three step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of floral offerings, the
family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Agarwal
Renal Center, 214 King Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
She spent all her life as a homemaker, helping run the family farm, and in 1978 she earned her GED.
