Janice M. Lapage, 71, of Fort Covington, NY, died Saturday morning, June 13th, 2009, at the Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena, NY.  She had been a patient there since June 7th.

Born in Malone, NY, June 19th, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Irene Gokey Avery.  She attended local schools.

On March 17th, 1955, she was united in marriage to Norman W. Lapage at St. Mary's Church in Fort Covington.  He predeceased her on August 29th, 2007.

Janice was employed at Tru-Stitch Footwear in Bombay, NY for over twenty-five years.  She retired in 1980 because of her health.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a past member of the Altar Rosary Society.  She was an avid bowler, snomobiler, and bingo player.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include one sone and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Pam Lapage of Fort Covington, one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Vicky Avery of Columbus, OH, three sisters and bothers-in-law, Joan and Lyle Tremblay of Westville, NY, Gail and Thomas LaBarge of Malone, NY, and Lynn and ErickHeskett of Springfield, OH, two grandchildren, Alan Lepage and his wife Theresa of Ballston Spa, NY, and Tara Sharland and her husband Jeff of North Bangor, NY, three great-grandchildren, Stephen, Mikayla, and Jacod Lapage, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Craig Lapage, on September 29th, 1968.

Calling hours will be Monday, June 15th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Capielleo-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington.  A Mass of Christian Burial wll be held at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Floyd J. Bleaux officiating.  Burial will be in the old St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Covington.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Fort Covington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or the the Fort Covington Adult Center Meals on Wheels Program.
