Irene M. Baker, 80, of Star Lake passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Clifton-Fine Nursing Home, Star Lake.
Irene
was born on May 22, 1929 in the town of Clifton to the late Joseph and
Alice (Powers) Pomerville. She attended Newton Falls School. Irene
married Bernard H. Baker on May 31, 1948. He passed away on March 17,
1996.
Irene was a homemaker. She lived in Newton Falls before
moving to Star Lake in 2000. She was a member of the American Legion
Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. Baker was a communicant of St. Hubert’s Catholic
Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed
spending her summers at their cottage on the Oswegatchie River in
Harrisville.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law,
Mark A. and Sheila, and David B. and Roxanne, all of Star Lake, and
James B. of Poughkeepsie; and three granddaughters and one great
grandson.
Irene was predeceased by two daughters, Judy Ann Baker
and Lorraine Baker; a brother, Raymond Pomerville; and two sisters,
Marion Doran and Joan Reed.
Calling hours will be on Friday from
2 until 5 p.m. at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake. The funeral
service will be on Saturday, June 6th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Hubert’s
Catholic Church with Father Robert Decker officiating. Burial will
follow at St. Hubert’s Cemetery in Star Lake.

made in Irene’s memory to the American Legion Ladies Auxillary Marvin
Eno Post 1539 or to the Clifton-Fine Nursing Home.
