Fort Drum’s Remington Park will be open for the season from Friday through Oct. 31. The
park features picnic areas with outdoor grills and picnic tables,
volleyball nets and horseshoe pits, children's playgrounds, children's
volleyball area, scenic nature trails through the wooded area that are
ideal for walking or running, a sandy beach swimming area, peddle
bikes, canoes, kayaks and paddle boats, seasonal catch-and-release
fishing (must have a valid New York state fishing license), and a dog
park. In addition, the park offers pavilions and lodges that may be reserved for summer parties, get-togethers, activities and events. The
open pavilions provide cover from the elements, picnic tables and
electrical outlets. The small pavilions hold 20-25 people, medium
pavilions hold up to 125 people and large pavilions can hold up to 275
people. To make pavilion reservations, contact Parks and Recreation at
772-8222. The Remington Park lodges are Adirondack-style facilities with wrap-around decks overlooking Remington Pond. Hillside
Lake Lodge features a large stone fireplace, comfortable seating areas
and a full kitchen. The seating capacity is 50 with a standing capacity
for 100. Llyod’s Landing Lodge is located on the beach at Remington
Park. The lodge features a large stone fireplace with two cozy seating
areas. The seating capacity is 72 with a standing capacity of 150. To reserve the lodges, contact the Commons at 772-6222. Remington
Park recreation areas are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through
Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The beach and swimming area will
be open June 1 to Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Lifeguards
