Doug Hoffman doesn’t have an ice cube’s chance

Dear Friends:

Doug Hoffman’s loss to Matt Doheny in the GOP Primary election is now official.

Unfortunately, Doug has decided to remain in the race and run for congress from the conservative party line. I say unfortunate, because his decision will only serve to reduce our chances for electing a fiscal conservative in November.

As some of you now know, UNYTEA’s leadership had been complaining to Doug and his campaign staff for several months prior to the election. His campaign was unorganized. It lacked focus and the out-of-state staff, knew little or nothing about the North Country. In addition, Doug’s Arizona Campaign Consultant had fired everyone who worked on last year’s campaign. It was a formula for failure.

And now, despite the fact that he has no money and has once again fired his entire staff, Doug thinks that the dream which almost came true last year will some how be miraculously resurrected again this year.

Folks, I’m not known for my diplomatic skills and I’m an even worse liar. So at the risk of having you all run me out of town on a rail, I’m going to tell you what you may not WANT to hear, but what you HAVE to hear.

Doug Hoffman doesn’t have an ice cube’s chance in hell of winning this election. A vote for him is a vote for Bill Owens.

Now perhaps you don’t like Matt Doheny. You think he talks too fast or comes across as arrogant and brash. You don’t know him and therefore you don’t trust him. I understand that and I wish it were different.

I also wish that our country wasn’t hurtling at breakneck speed toward a financial Armageddon. But we are. And if we don’t send dozens of fiscal conservatives to Washington THIS YEAR and again in 2012, we won’t have the luxury of arguing over which candidate more closely fits our version of the perfect Congressman.

Our government will have defaulted on its debts. Our currency will be worth nothing, and life as we know it will have all but disappeared. The struggle to save our country from financial ruin is much bigger than you or me or Doug Hoffman. It’s a battle we cannot afford to lose.

Matt Doheny has repeatedly pledged his allegiance to our mantra: lower taxes, less spending & limited government. By contrast and after less than one year in office, Bill Owens has already wracked up two trillion dollars of spending on the tax payers’ credit card. I urge you to take Matt at his word. Trust him. And pray to God that we’re not too late.

Most sincerely yours,

Mark L Barie
