Cricket's Frog Blog: Where Are You, Faith Hill?

It’s hard to believe that not only has this year almost come to an end, but we’re about to close the books on a decade as well. Of course, that means “Best of” lists of all sorts are popping up everywhere. Billboard Magazine just released a list of the Top 10 most-played songs of the decade. Faith Hill has not one, but two titles on the list; the only artist in any genre to pull off such a double-whammy. Her 1999 mega-smash “Breathe” comes in at #4, while “The Way You Love Me” is at #6. Both were from her multi-platinum “Breathe” CD. (In case you are wondering, Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me” is #1, followed by Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” at #2, and “Hanging by a Moment” by Lifehouse rounds out the Top 3. The only other country song to make the list was Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.”)

Seeing Faith’s name in the news made me wonder where the heck she’s been lately. After all, her husband, Tim McGraw, has been EVERYWHERE… He’s been in a box office smash, “The Blind Side,” with Sandra Bullock, he’s enjoying the success of his “Southern Voice” CD, and he’s making another movie with Gwenyth Paltrow.

Faith hasn’t delivered any new music to country radio in a long time. I think she releases a new perfume more often than she releases albums! But she has other things besides her music career to keep her busy. Daughters Maggie, Gracie and Audrey (ages 12, 11 and 7, respectively) take up a lot of her time. She recently told OK Magazine that the girls seem to have inherited their famous parents’ knack for entertaining. She says they are currently “obsessed” with Michael Jackson. “They dress up like Michael and then film themselves. It’s quite incredible!” she enthused. (Cool! Is this on YouTube yet???)

If you are hankering for a Faith Fix, you’re in luck! While we won’t have a new album to stuff our Christmas stockings, Faith will star in the 11th annual A Home for the Holidays special on December 23 on CBS. This will be her second time hosting the show, which spotlights personal stories about foster care and adoption. (Faith herself was adopted shortly after her birth.) Celeb pals like Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige and Shakira will also appear on the show.

If a week is too long to wait, you can enjoy Faith Hill’s “Where Are You Christmas” video here today.
