It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, even here on the Frog Blog. I’ll be sharing some great seasonal country music videos between now and Christmas.
Today’s video comes from the Carter Twins. They are no relation to the famous Carter-Cash clan, nor are they related to teenybopper heartthrobs Nick and Aaron Carter. (Although, given their rapidly growing, young female fan base, you might guess differently.)
Josh and Zach Carter grew up in Akron, Ohio. Music was a big part of their lives from the get-go. Their mother worked at a country radio station and possessed the musical skills needed to teach the boys guitar and piano. When the twins were 15, the Carters moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina. It was there that the duo landed their first gig. They quickly became addicted to the rush of performing in front of a live crowd. Influenced by artists as varied as Brooks and Dunn, John Mayer, Keith Urban and the Everly Brothers, Josh and Zach continued to hone their craft throughout high school. They didn’t plan on pursuing music full-time until after they graduated, but fate intervened. While in L.A., they had a chance encounter with an MTV executive, who hooked them up with folks at CMT.
Now that they are 19 and out of school, the Carter Twins live in Nashville. They independently released a self-titled CD in November. Their first single, “Heart Like Memphis,” had mild chart success, thanks largely to video airplay. Check out the Carter Twins’ spin on a holiday classic, “Let It Snow.”
